REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of National Banks Association (Perbanas) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo admitted the needs of human resources are lessened in banking sector, because banks no longer aggressively open branch offices. It was because banking transactions begin to be converted from conventional to digital.
Nevertheless, he said, several banks are still continuing to recruit new employees. However, the recruitment was not as much as the previous years.
"The growth of banking employees will automatically depend on it," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Banking sector is currently sluggish and the growth is not as high as in previous years, she explained. The growth of credit was only in the range of 9 to 10 percent, while in 2010 to 2015, credit could grow in the range of 25 to 30 percent per year.
Previously, National Pension Savings Bank (BTPN) offered career development outside the company. This was because BTPN wants to focus more on digital banking in line with the development of technology.
Kartika admitted there are some banks which aggressively move their system to digital services. "Many transactions are moving to digital. There are shifting from branch offices to mobile devices," he added.
