REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BRUSSELS -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) visited Belgium to attend the opening of the Europalia Art festival 2017. Indonesia was present as a guest of honour in this event.
In his working visit, JK said the festival is an event to show the diversity of Indonesian culture to the European community. In addition, this even could also strengthen the socio-cultural relations between Indonesia and Europe.
"Europalia is a tool to strengthen social-cultural relationships as well as people to people interaction," JK said in a written statement, Wednesday (October 11).
Indonesia government prepared to show 316 artists at the Europalia Cultural Festival, which held on October 10. This event opened by the vice president and King of Belgium, Phillipe. The festival also explores 40 cities in seven European countries for 104 days.
Beside attending the opening of Europalia, JK would have a meeting with European Commission President Andrus Ansip. He would also open the Indonesia-Belgium High Level Rountable Discussion at the Belgian Business Federation office.
JK optimistic that Indonesia could still be a trusted business partner to Belgium.
"I am confined that Indonesia will alway be a reliable partner and committed to bilateral cooperation between two countries," JK added.
Jusuf Kalla explained economy in Indonesia currently in a stable state with an open and competitive business climate for foreign investment. The vice president hopes the sustainability of bilateral relations between the two countries could grow and benefit each other.
