REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- In a meeting with Indonesian Council of Ulemas (MUI), founder Halal Corner Aisha Maharani conveyed some incidents that occured during measles rubella (MR) vaccination campaign.
She said some parents in Banten province were threathened to pay IDR700 billion of fine in case they refused to vaccinate their children.
"I have the evidence and will share it later," she said in MUI office on Thursday (October 12).
According to Aisha, the threat came from healthcare professional and local government.
Responding to the issue, head of Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Oscar Primadi, asserted alleged threat should be addressed. According to him, the ministry would not go that far to succeed the campaign.
"We have been practicing persuasive approaches in our heatlh campaign. Alhamdulillah (thank God), without such pressure (as alleged occured in Banten), the immunization coverage quite high," he remarked when being contacted by Republika.co.id, separately.
