REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla was reluctant to comment on the closure of Alexis Hotel and Griya Pijat (massage parlor). The operation of PT Grand Ancol Hotel's subsidiaries have been stopped as Jakarta provincial government refused to extend their business permit.
"What is Alexis?" he asked in rhetoric when being asked about Alexis hotel in his office, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Kalla asked the reporters to convey the question directly to Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan.
"Just asked Jakarta governor," Kalla said.
According to Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan, the Jakarta provincial government has received reports, complaints and heard from the news that Alexis Hotel and Griya Pjat Alexis have run forbidden activities.
Nevertheless, he admitted, the Jakarta provincial government has not communicate with PT Grand Ancol Hotel as business owner.
"We will see their reaction. But, our stance is clear. The business owner already knew about this. It was not something new. It has been said for months," Anies reiterated.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of PT Grand Ancol Hotel, Lina, stated management of Alexis hotel and Griya Pijat Alexis (massage parlor) are aware of its image in the society. She admitted, Alexis's bad image is its weakness as business entity.
Lina also said, Alexis management is open to critics and sugesstions. Therefore, they are ready to improve their image.
"Alexis has been identified as a bad place. So, we wil clean up. We will rearrange our management to get out of the negative stigma," Lina said at Alexis hotel, North Jakarta, on Tuesday.
