REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the condition of Istora Senayan Jakarta Stadium has fulfilled public needs for public space in the capital city after getting revitalization ahead of Asian Games 2018.
She said that during a visit to Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium with Minister of Work General and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono in Jakarta, Thursday (November 23).
"The Indonesian architect team has renovated this stadium while maintaining its historical values, and it is also able to adapt to the current conditions that expect connectivity with the public sphere," said Sri Mulyani.
She said, the sports arena in GBK Senayan area will become a valuable state assets for the community because it also has shady trees that can function as the lungs of the city. All sports arena has its own charm.
"The main stadium has a nice and wide lawn and the aquatic Stadium also retains its historical value with a semi-open roof," said Sri.
According to Sri, Indonesia has budgeted Rp132 billion for renovation of Istora Senayan Stadium and Rp700 billion for GBK Main Stadium in a multi-year budget.
The government will also anticipate additional budget in 2018.
Ministry of Finance will assist ministries and agencies involved in preparing for the Asian Games such as Ministry of Work General and Public Housing, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (Inasgoc) in budgeting techniques.
She hoped, the committee maintained good financial governance and did not corrupt.
Inasgoc chairman Erick Thohir said, Finance Minister and Work General and Public Housing Minister's visit in the renovation of GBK Senayan became moral support in preparation for Asian Games 2018.
"The visit will be part of the promotion of Indonesia as host of Asian Games 2018," Erick said.
