REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- TNI commander, General Gatot Nurmantyo said he handed over the replacement of military chief to President Joko Widodo as it was his prerogrative rights. Moreover, it was the president who will use the services of new appointed TNI chief.
"The President knows best, not me," said Gatot at TNI Headquarters, East Jakarta, Monday (December 4).
Gatot explained, the President knows best about the figure fit for position. Jokowi, he said, the appointment will be based on the challenges of his future task.
"The president will use services of the commander who replaces me will be chosen based on the challenge of the task ahead. Don't ask me, but ask the President," said Gatot.

"Earlier this morning, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno delivered a letter from the President about the plan to dismiss General Gatot Nurmantyo and the appointment of Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto as the new TNI commander," said deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Fadli Zon at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday (December 4).
