REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said, Palestinian issues have become top priority of Indonesian foreign policy

"We will always care about Palestinian issues as top priority of Indonesia's foreign policy," said Retno when opening the seminar and photos exhibition of Palestine at Pancasila Building in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (December 5).

Retno invited the people to strengthen their commitment in helping Palestine and its people, especially the United States (US) plans to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital has been a growing issue.

She said, the US action will obviously harm and paralyze the peace process between Palestine and Israel.

"Let's work harder to make sure the Palestinian children can, someday, have a country that they can call their own," Retno said.

On the occasion, Retno also conveyed her appreciation on Egypt's role in mediating the reconciliation process between Fatah and Hamas.

"Thank you for the Egyptian Government," the Foreign Minister told the Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed Amr Ahmed Moawad.

According to Retno, reconcilliation between Fatah and Hamas is needed by the Palestinians.

"Unity among the Palestinians is urgently needed. It is needed for their strength," he said.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed Moawad said, his country will always try to help Palestine.

"The issue of Palestine remains a priority issue of Egyptian policy and we hope that collaboration between Palestinians and related parties can continue," he said.
