REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- A bowling arena constructed in Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, will be inaugurated in February for the Asian Games 2018, which will be held in August this year. The construction of the bowling arena has been completed, Basyaruddin Ahmad, head of the Cipta Karya construction company's South Sumatra office, stated here on Monday.
South Sumatra has received support from Sinar Mas Group, as the sponsor of the development of the bowling center of international standard, while state oil and gas company has provided the equipment.
The bowling arena has 40 alleys, and is equipped with AMF machines. The arena is currently the best in Asia, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin noted.
The bowling arena is constructed, as per the standards set by the International bowling federation, on a 2.5 hectare plot of land inside the Jakabaring Sport City.
The South Sumatra government will organize an international bowling competition as a test event for the 18th Asian Games, which will be co-hosted by Palembang and Jakarta from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.
Thousands of athletes from 45 Asian nations are expected to participate in the largest regional sport event.
