REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The water volume of Katulampa Dam in Bogor, West Java, continued to increase, causing the Ciliwung river to overflow its banks and flood East Jakarta's areas of Kampung Melayu on Monday. Kampung Melayu Village Head Setiawan said on Monday that floods have affected four neighborhoods (RWs), namely RW 04, RW O5, RW 07, and RW O8.
"Some parts of Kampung Melayu areas are flooded. The water began to flood the areas at 3 a.m.,"Setiawan stated.

The water levels in the flooded areas of Kampung Melau ranged between 60 and 100 centimeters, but residents have not yet decided to evacuate.
Senior official of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho remarked in a press release that heavy rain has been falling since Sunday in the upstream areas of the Ciliwung River in Bogor. This caused the water level of the Katulampa Dam in Bogor to reach240 centimeters at 9:05 a.m. local time, as the Ciliwung River swelled significantly.

The Katulampa Dam was on Alert Level 1, or the highest level, Nugroho noted in a statement. The water level in the dam reached 220 centimeters at 8:30 a.m. local time and rose to 230 centimeters at 9 a.m. local time and 240 centimeters at 9:05 a.m. local time.

Bogor's areas located near the river's banks include Katulampa, Sukasari, Barangsiang, Babakan Pasar, Sempur, Pabaton, Kedung Badak, and Kedung Halang.
