REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAJALENGKA -- The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) of Jatiwangi Majalengka Station in West Java Province has urged the locals living in disaster-prone areas to remain alert of natural disasters that may happen during the peak of rainy season.
"The people living in disaster-prone areas should remain alert," Ahmad Faa Iziyn, of the BMKG's Weather Forecast Unit, stated here on Monday when questioned about the current weather condition.
The rainfall is expected to reach 300 millimeters per month in February, and it could be heavy and long with thunderstorm, he noted, adding that in such a condition, the people need to be alert of whirlwinds that could topple trees.
The rainfall is expected to peak in February. The areas of West Java Province that may experience the peak of the rainy season include the districts of Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, and Kuningan.
