Mentally sick men attack Baiturrahim mosque in Tuban

The perpetrators bring along their families during the attack.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Two assailants broke the window of Baiturrahim mosque, Sumurgempol street, Karangsari, Tuban, East Java at dawn on Tuesday (Feb 13). Head of Public Relations of East Java Metro Police, Frans Barung Mangera suspected the assailants as a mentally sick men.

"It happened at early morning today," Mangera said when contacted on Tuesday.

One of the perpetrators was known as M Zaenudin (40 yo). Another one has not been identified. "From initial examination, both of perpetrators allegedly suffered psychiatric disorders," Mangera explained.

During the vandalism, the perpetrators took their families with them. Two teenage girls and two boys stayed in the car while the two perpetrators attack the mosque. "We have also examined the four of them," Mangera said.

The police have secured the perpetrators and transferred them to Tuban General Hospital. Meanwhile, the four minors were brought to Tuban Police headquarters. "One of the perpetrators wounded in his hands and foot from exposure to broken glass. The perpetrators were screaming when arrested," Mangera said.

Due to the incident, Baiturrahim mosque front window badly damaged. Police have seized some evidences from the perpetrators, among others one lapotop, two mobile phone, books written in Arabic, and a white Toyota Innova with police number H-8697-JQ.
