REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Police have arrested six administrator of the Family Muslim Cyber Army group. The group allegedly spread fake news and provocative issues related to sentiments against tribal affiliation, religion, race and societal groups (SARA) through social medias and chat applications. 

The group also frequently posted defamation to the president and the government as well as particular figures. National Police's Cyber Crime Unit has investigated the case since seven months ago.

"There was a team, namely Sniper team. It was closed-group with 177 members and in it there was another network namely the Family Team Cyber with its six administrator. The six of them have been arrested," the Director of Cyber Crime of Indonesian Police, Brig Gen Fadil Imran said here on Wednesday.

According to Imran, members of Sniper team and the Family Muslim Cyber Army were recruited after passing some test. They also received payment. 

Imran explained he Family MCA was a secret group. It has nine members and all of them have the influence in other groups to manage and plan a news to be viral in organized way. 

The nine members of the Family MCA also assigned to report accounts opposing their issue. "They also spread spam or virus to people or opposing parties that can harm electronic devices," Imran said.

Seperately, Head of National Police Crime Unit Commissioner Ari Dono Sukamto said Muslim Cyber Army group mostly spread fake news related to Indonesian Communist Party and ulemas kidnapping. He said the group is similar to Saracen group. 

Muslim Cyber Army was accused to spread 15 fake news of ulemas attack in West Java.
