REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) executive board chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira welcomed Democratic Party's tsignal to join government coalition with Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He said several terms and conditions for coalition proposed by the Democratic Party could be discussed.
"But, it's important to have the same initial intention to win Jokowi and build a solid government," said Andreas at Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (March 12).
According to Andreas, the terms and condition will be fulfilled after a further discussion between two parties. So far, PDIP and Democratic Party has a good communication.
"Our communication is going well, there is no problem. As long as we have the same view of the nation, also same vision and mission, so why not. We'll see," Andreas explained.
Meanwhile, PDIP has to discuss Jokowi's running mate with supporting parties before accepting the figure of Joint Unit Command (Korgasma) Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. Andreas said PDIP has heard other names encourgared to become Jokowis vice president candidate. "We have our own criteria and observe the dynamics in selecting Jokowi's running mate," he said.

During the Democratic Party national leadership meeting (Rapimnas), the party's general chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Jokowi sent signals to each other in 2019 presidential election. In his speech, SBY also said two possibilities, namely carrying own presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate or joining with coalition parties that support government .
"Mr President, if Allah SWT destined, Democratic party can fight together with you," said SBY on last Saturday (March 10).
SBY assessed the coalition could be realized in several conditions. Coalitions and alliances will succeed if the framework of togetherness is right and the vision and mission of the government platform for Indonesia 2019-2024 is also appropriate and jointly prepared by the coalition parties, he said.
"Of course the Democratic Party must take part in determining the agenda and platform for the future, that's the second condition," said SBY.
The former president also said the coalition must be solid and strong in order to be successful. Mutual trust and respect between the coalition parties also important.
"This is very important, the coalition is a matter of heart. We are together willing to unite with each other. Democratic Party is ready to build such a coalition," SBY added.
