REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- A transnational drugs dealer from Malaysia identified as NG Eng Aun, nicknamed Piter, was killed in a raid by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Siantan Sub-district, Pontianak, West Kalimantan Province. He tried to evade the arrest.

"Piter was attempting to escape from the officers when they wanted to interrogate the suspect. However, Piter resisted, and the BNN officers were forced to neutralize him," Eradication Deputy of BNN Inspector General Arman Depari informed Antara here on Wednesday.

Piter died when the officers took him to a hospital. Depari stated that the officers brought the body to the Soedarso Provincial Hospital in Pontianak City.

"The arrest was conducted based on a tip-off from the public related to the smuggling of narcotics and ecstasy from Kuching, Malaysia, into Indonesia through the unofficial border route of Sanggau, West Kalimantan," Depari remarked.

After receiving the information, the BNN, in cooperation with the Indonesian Customs, conducted an inspection on the Trans Kalimantan Highway.

During the inspection, the joint team of officers arrested Edy Aris, who had brought two kilograms of methamphetamine and 30 thousand pills of ecstasy in his car.

"Moreover, based on Aris' information, he was ordered by a Malaysian drugs dealer Piter (to bring the consignment)," Depari pointed out, adding that Piter was arrested at Hotel Haris.
