REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARBARU -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the handover of land certificates aimed to ensure that the people felt the benefits of their lands. According to the head of state, the government had issued certificates in accordance with the legal rights of all owners based on an appropriate amount.
"(Owners of) all existing lands and fields must ideally have certificates. Moreover, the ownership should be held by the people, so that they can utilize it well," the president noted after witnessing the distribution of land certificates to the people in Sports Arena (GOR) of Rudi Rusnawan in Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan Province, on Monday.
President Jokowi also remarked that the government had increased the target for distribution of land certificates every year to five million in 2017, seven million in 2018, and nine million in 2019.
"This is a target that I will continue to pursue," he emphasized.

The president delivered the speech in front of 3,630 certificate recipients at GOR and reminded the people to save the certificates from being physical damaged.
In addition, Jokowi reminded people intending to approach the bank to use the certificate as collateral for capital to correctly calculate the installments to be paid.
The president urged the people to not use the capital gained for consumptive purposes but for a productive enterprise.
Besides this, the ownership of legitimate land titles also avoids clashes and conflicts that often arise in Indonesian society.
The total number of recipients of certificates present at GOR reached 3,630 people out of the 5,640 certificates distributed in South Kalimantan on Monday.
