REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman said he had revoked 141 regulations. Those regulations were considered restrictive discouraging foreign investment in the agricultural sector.
In addition there are 50 more regulations in the process of revocation, Amran said.
He said the government wants to attract more investment in the plantation and animal husbandry sectors to increase exports from the sectors.
He said increase has been recorded in investment in the plantation and animal husbandry sectors.
He said in 2013, investment in the agricultural sector reached Rp23 trillion and the figure is expected to double as a result of the deregulation measure.
He said the measure is a response of the government to complaint by investors about too much red tape.
There were also simplifications of regulations with 15 regulation simplified into one, he said.
