REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Attorney General Muhammad Prasetyo disclosed the development of a number of crime cases that drew people's attention during a working meeting with House of Representatives Commission III on Wednesday (March 28). One of the cases was pornography case allegedly invloved Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Habib Rizieq Shihab.

According to Prasetyo, the case file has been returned to Jakarta Police Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation. The Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office has returned the notification letter of commencement of investigation (SPDP) to the police.

"The case file is now in Jakarta Police Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation's hands. Jakarta Supreme Court returned the SPDP on November 21, 2017," said Prasetyo on Wednesday (March 28).

Habib Rizieq was named as a suspect in a pornograpy case after a sexually explicit WhatsApp chats allegedly exchanged between him and Firza Husein leaked online. He was named a suspect without undergoing questioning as he had evaded two summons from the police.

The police put Habib Rizieq's name on the fugitive list for allegedly violating law. He was threatened with Article 4 paragraph 1 juncto Article 6 juncto Article 32 and Article 9, juncto Article 35 Law No. 44/2008 on pornography.

Habib Rizieq stayed in Saudi Arabia for the last 10 months. Last year, he left Indonesia for umrah pilgrimage continued by hajj pilgrimage. Previously, he had planned to return several times but he never made it.

Habib Rizieq was involved in a number of cases that made him suspect. The allegation of pornographic chat was the most sensational case strangled him.

His lawyer, Kapitra Ampera explained the chat was fake and it was a slander. The investigation of Habib Rizieq's case tent to be stagnat. Police admitted they was still waiting for the ulema's return to Indonesia for further investigation and the legal process.
