REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Central Executive Board (DPP) chairman, Mardani Ali Sera hoped Gerindra Party to immediately declare its presidential candidate in 2019 presidential election. His statement came as Gerindra Party general chairman Prabowo Subianto has not declared yet his candidacy.

According to Mardani, as a coalition, PKS would wait Gerindra's decision in 2019 presidential election. Mardani also said his party will also propose one of nine selected cadres to be presidential or vice presidential candidate with Gerindra Party coalition.

"We will wait Gerindra, so PKS also can declare it soon and it will effect the election, said Mardani on Monday (April 9).

Mardani admitted PKS will not worry with Prabowos electability that still considered far below than President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) from Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). He assessed electability would not absolutely determine a victory. The chance to win played the most important role, he said. 

"We have seen it in Jakarta gubernatorial election," he remarked.

Earlier, Gerindra Party deputy chairman Fadli Zon asserted his party will re-nominate Prabowo as presidential candidate in 2019 presidential election. According to him, Gerindra Party assessed Prabowo as the most prepared candidate and have high electability.

"I think all Gerindra cadres support Prabowo forward. There is no split. No one argue that Mr. Prabowo is a king maker. We are solid," Fadli said.

Gerindra was scheduled to hold national working meeting on April 11. During the meeting, Gerindra cadres planned to declare Prabowo as the party's presidential candidate.
