REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Central Executive Board (DPP) chairman, Mardani Ali Sera believed Gerindra Party chief patron Prabowo Subianto's electability can compete the incumbent Joko Widodo (Jokowi) from Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). He explained the current position of Prabowo that is still below Jokowi was affected by the delay of Prabowo's declaration as candidate in 2019 presidential election.

"It's because Prabowo has not declared yet to officially run in 2019 presidential election and I believe if it's already done, his electability will be better," said Mardani on Thursday (April 19).

Therefore, Mardani remained optimistic with Prabowos electability. However, if Prabowo chose to not run in 2019 presidential election, Mardani said PKS would not refuse it.

"Whether he will go on his own or remains as a king maker, of course we leave it to Prabowo and Gerindra," Mardani added.

Earlier, Gerindra Party confirmed the party has given the mandate to its chief patron Prabowo Subianto to be president candidate in 2019 presidential election during National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) on last April 11. However, Prabowo decided the declaration to wait for the completion of regional election in Banyumas, East Java.
