Jokowi appreciates women in the military, police

Jokowi sees growing number of women in strategic position of the military, police.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciated women in the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police. He said the presence of women in the military and police in maintaining security in society are important.

According to Jokowi, women in TNI and National Police are a great and courageous figures who are not afraid of the challenges that are risky. He said women who have chosen this noble profession with full dedication showed the women's role is not less important.

"I'm proud that number of female personnels at TNI and National Police is increasing, also with the proportion. It shows that the contribution of women is highly recognized and expected, and people's expectation towards women is getting bigger," said Jokowi on Wednesday (April 25).

Jokwoi said Indonesian people have witnessed that the female corps were assigned to provide security in society. The number of women who also served in strategic position at TNI and National Police were growing.

"In many occasions, I see that female military personnels and female police officers can control difficult situation and they able to calm down the situation," Jokowi added.
