REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno denied information stating that chairman of the committe For You Indonesia, Dave R Santoso is a volunteer of One Kecamatan One Center of Enterpreneurship (OK OCE) movement. He asked the false news not to be further discussed.
Sandiaga claimed he only met Dave once intermediated by Chairman of Perindo Party Jakarta branch Sahrianta Tarigan. He explained that one morning Sahrianta who has been active in social works and religious events came to City Hall with his wife. Sahrianta's wife retired from Jakarta Provincial Government on Monday (April 30) after working for 28 years.
"I ask him whether he knew For You Indonesia committee and he said yes," Sandiaga said on Thursday.
Sandiaga said Sahrianta offered him to bridge the communication with Dave. Sandiaga then asked Sahrianta to invite Dave to City Hall.
The deputy governor wanted to investigate incident that claimed two lives of children in the event led by Dave. Sandiaga needed assurance that the provincial government have coordinate with For You Indonesia committee following tragedy at the distribution of free basic needs parcels on Saturday (April 29) at Monas, Central Jakarta.
Sahrianta immediately arranged the meeting. The two parties met in the evening.
When confirmed by Republika.co.id, Sahrianta confirmed that he has facilitated the meeting between Sandiaga and Dave. "I did not know Dave before. I use my network to reach him," he said.
Sahrianta claimed not to know the content of the meeting. He also denied ever saying Dave was a volunteer of OK OCE. "I never made any statement, especially saying Dave is a OK OCE volunteer," he said.
When contacted ahead of the event, Dave explained Forum Untuk Indonesia prepared 100 thousand free basic needs packages. However, he was unable to mention exact number of the committee deployed at the event.
Dave said 4,000 personnel from police, military, satpol PP, and volunteer to guard the whole series of event. Security officers to be focused mainly in the distribution of free basic needs parcels.
Department of Tourism and Culture (Disparbud) and Technical Management Unit (UPT) Monas claimed to have submitted an oral ban on the charity activity, but Dave decided to continue the event.
