REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan announced the provincial government has released its shares at PT Delta Djakarta as beer producer. He already signed the decision to dispose 26.25 percent stake in the company.

"This is our commitment," said Anies on Wednesday (May 16).

Disposing of 26.25 percent stake in PT Delta Djakarta was a campaign promise by Anies and his deputy Sandiaga Uno. Earlier, they said it was improper for the city administration to own a stake in a brewery.

In their promise, the stake sale would also be used to build public facilities and basic needs for citizens. Neverthless, release of shares still need DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Regional Legislative Council (DPRD)'s approval.

Anies said he will soon send a letter to the board to discuss about this matter. "We'll send a letter and Insya Allah (Gods will) it will be approved," Anies added.

Anies said 26.25 percent stakes owned by Jakarta Provincial Government gave an average dividend of Rp 38 billion per year. He claimed Jakarta will earn Rp 1 trillion by releasing the stake.

"On the other hand, if we maintain our shares in PT Delta, maybe we need more than 30 years to get Rp 1 trillion. So we let it go," Anies explained.
