REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Palestinian Deputy Foreign Minister Tayseer Jaradat has clarified his stance on the issue of Israel banning Indonesians from visiting Jerusalem. Jaradat said that the regulation is not true.

"We are really excited to see Indonesian tourists entering the holy land of Palestine and pilgrimage in Al-Quds (Jerusalem). Basically, the regulation is not true, and we do not accept it," Jaradat stated here on Thursday.

On the occasion, Jaradat attended the 2nd Senior Officials Meeting of the Conference on Cooperation between East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development. According to Jaradat, tourists have the right to undertake a spiritual journey to the holy land of Jerusalem.

"Basically, this is a right of those tourists keen on undertaking a pilgrimage to the holy land and to also visit the lands of Muslims, Christians, and followers of other religions in Palestine," Jaradat noted.

Jaradat further vowed to try the best to solve the problem.

Earlier, the issue of Indonesian tourists not being allowed to visit Jerusalem after June 9 came to light. They are reportedly still allowed to enter the region before the specified date.

According to the news circulating, the Israeli government does not allow Indonesian tourists to enter Jerusalem in response to the Indonesian government's refusal to grant tourist visas to Israeli citizens.
