AHY reminds the people not to remain silent

AHY asks the people to do something to solve the country's problem.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Joint Task Force Command (Kogasma) of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) invited all elements of the society to use Ramadhan at their best. He reminded the people to recall the essence of life as reflected in the Quran, "Khoirunnas anfa’uhum linnas", which means the best of people are those that bring most benefit to others.

"It's not right if we just sit and talk about the problem without finding the way out. Once again, do not remain silent. Do something," AHY said in his oration entitled "Listen to the People's Voice" delivered at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, on Saturday (June 9).

In the past year, AHY claimed to have visited hundreds of districts / cities in 22 provinces in Indonesia. During his visits to various regions of the country, he has listened to voices from the disadvantaged people that did not reach the government.

AHY said the voices were honest and real. He heard it from various communities, started from farmers, fishermen, laborers, merchants, entrepreneurs, housewives, young people and others.

According to AHY, at least there were two main economic issues in the society, namely purchasing power and employment. Moreover, the data mentioned as many as 28 million Indonesian people are still below the poverty line.

AHY also noted that around 70 million of people are prone to poverty. The total number is equal to almost 40 percent of Indonesian population.

"A slight economic shock could push them into a deeper poverty," AHY said in a press release.

In addition, Indonesian people also feared by the issue of foreign workers. "We're not against foreign countries, but we can not accept if the people are defeated, seconded or being spectator in their own country," he stated.
