REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATANG -- Indonesian National Police (Polri) Chief General Tito Karnavian said that the peak of reverse flow of 2018 Lebaran was estimated to be divided into two waves. The first wave to come on June 20 and the second will be on June 23 and 24.

"There was an increase in traffic flow from June 17 to June 18, 2018. We predict the first wave of the reverse flow peak to occur on June 20, while the second wave is estimated to happen on June 23 and 24," he noted.

Tito stated that some points on toll road gates and entrance of rest areas were prone to congestion. Vehicles that stop on the roadside could trigger traffic congestion. He added that Polri has prepared several plans to control traffic density due to the increase in the number of vehicles.

"If there is an excessive flow of vehicles, we will divide the road direction as well as apply contraflow and one way," he remarked.

He revealed that there was a temporary queue of 500 to 600 meters of vehicles when entering Kalikuto Bridge. But the situation was relatively smooth as responsible officers had managed traffic well.
