REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State Intelligence Agency (BIN) believed death sentence against Aman Abdurrahman aka Oman Rachman will not trigger retaliation. Other terrorist groups also will not launch action to respond the death penalty of the convicted terrorist.
"I don't think so. But still we have to raise awareness, everyone should remain vigilant," said Deputy Chief of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Teddy Lhaksmana at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Law and Human Rights Affairs, Jakarta, Friday (June 22).
Teddy asserted that BIN and law enforcement officials will anticipate the terrorist movements. He hoped no incident will occured following the verdict of judges of South Jakarta District Court.
"Hopefully nothing will happen. It can be anticipated," he asserted.
The verdict was read out by the panel of judges of South Jakarta District Court on Friday. The decision of the judges was in accordance with the demand of the public prosecutor (JPU).
Aman assessed proven to violate Article 14 juncto Article 6 of Lieu of Law Number 1 Year 2002 which has been changed into Law Number 15 Year 2003 on Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism as the first primary indictment. Then, the second primary indictment, Aman considered violating Article 14 juncto Article 7 of Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2002 which has been established into Law Number 15 Year 2003 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism.
Presiding judge Ahmad Zaini stated the defendant Aman Abdurrahman has committed a criminal act of terrorism. Judges said Aman is responsible for orchestrating Thamrin bombing (Central Jakarta) in 2016, Oikumene church bombing in Samarinda (East Kalimantan) in 2016, and Kampung Melayu (East Jakarta) bombing in mid 2017.
"Sentencing the crime to the defendant Aman Abdurrahman with the death penalty," said Zaini in the South Jakarta District Court building on Friday.
Hearing the verdict, Aman who sat at the defendant's chair, did prostration of gratitude. The security apparatus was immediately covered Aman to block the guest's vision.
