REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- Joint team of Search and Rescue (SAR) has been deployed to search two National Police members who were attacked by criminal armed groups (KKSB) on Wednesday (June 27). They were intercepted when returning to Torere, Puncak Jaya District.
Papua Police chief Boy Rafli Amar said SAR joint team assited by society are currently searching around Mamberamo River. There were also Puncak Jaya Police members who became victims of KKSB attack.
“Mamberamo Raya Police has been ordered to conduct a search with SAR team and people because the area is around Mamberamo River,” said Boy on Friday (June 29).

Earlier, nine members of Puncak Jaya Police led by Jesayas Nusi were in charge of securing ballots of regional election in Papua on Wednesday (June 27) at around 16.00 WIT (Indonesia East Standard Time). They were intercepted when on the way back to Torere. District head of Torere Obaja Froare died in the incident, meanwhile two National Police members were missing.
The two National Police members who served in Puncak Jaya Police are Jesayas Nusi and Sinton Kabarek. Meanwhile, there were seven members who survived, namely Maks Anjonderi, Steven Auparay, Daniel Tambunan, Firmansa, Yusuf Toding, Mulyadi, and Petrus Imbiri.
Papua Acting Governor Soedarmo concerned over the death of Torere district head Obaja Froare after being shot by an armed criminal group member. He grieved the deadly incident especially when the victims were on duty, carrying ballot papers with members of National Police to Torere.
“From the report, it was revealed the group used two motor boats and they was shot by armed criminal group during their trip," said Soedarmo said.
