REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Finance Minister Sri Mulyani claimed that 2017 has become the best year for the state budget management. State budget implementation in 2017 and the national economic management during the year have shown positive results, she said.
"Thus, we can say that 2017 has become the best year for state budget management," Sri Mulyani stated at the plenary session of the House of Representatives here on Tuesday.
The plenary session was scheduled to hear the government's description on the draft law on 2017 state budget accountability. The minister noted that the state budget basically is a key instrument to improve people's prosperity and the quality of life of Indonesians.
Among the positive results of the state budget management in 2017 was a 0.9 percent increase of the country's Human Development Index to 70.81 compared to those in 2016.
Unemployment in 2017 has declined to 5.13 percent from 5.50 percent in 2016, and the number of poor people has declined from 27.76 million in 2016 to 26.58 million in 2017. The Gini ratio has declined from 0.393 in 2016 to 0.391 in 2017.
"The Human Development Index in 2017 is the highest record in four years, while unemployment rate has hit its lowest record in three years," Sri Mulyani elaborated.

The number of poor people and the Gini ratio in 2017 was the lowest level since 2014, she added.
The central government's financial report in 2017 has received Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the State Audit Board (BPK) based on its audit.
