REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested gubernatorial candidate of North Maluku Ahmad Hidayat Mus (AHM) and Sula Islands Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) chairman Zainal Mus (ZM). Both of them will be detained for the next 20 days, related to corruption case of land acquisition Bobong Airport in 2009 budget year.
“After examining suspects, we believed they fulfilled Article 21 Criminal Prosedure Code (KUHAP), so AHM and ZM will be detained at KPK detention centres for the next 20 days,” said KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah on Monday (July 2).
According to Febri, AHM and ZM was placed in different detention centres. AHM is detained at KPK detention centre branch Kav K-4. Meanwhile, ZM at KPK detention centre branch located in Pomdam Jaya Guntur.
Ahmad is the winner of the latest regional election in North Maluku based on quick count. After being examined by KPK investigator, he said he handed over the case to his lawyer. Ahmad also thanked his voters who believed in him.
“I thank all the voters and just be patient people of North Maluku,” Ahmad said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad’s lawyer, Waode Nur Zaenab said his client is a victim of political intervention. He believed can prove that his client is not guilty in the corruption case.
“We will prove it in session,” said Waode.
Ahmad and Zainal were allegedly benefited themselves or others, or corporations related to Bobong Airport land acquisition in Sula Islands Regency. Both of them also allegedly created fictitious project from the procurement of Bobong land acquisition in 2009 regional budget year.
