REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Democratic Party secretary general Hinca Panjaitan said the meeting between Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Gerindra Party chief patron Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to be held at Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 24). Previously, the two figures failed to realize their plan to meet due to SBY’s health condition.
“We have prepared all things, but the time of the meeting is not set yet,” said Hinca on Monday (July 23).
Hinca confirmed the meeting between Democratic Party chairman and Prabowo was related to 2019 presidential election. However, he could not specify whether the talks lead to his party and Gerindra coalition.
“They (SBY and Prabowo) will talk about what should be done between August 4 to 10, but there is no agreement yet, all the options are still open,” Hinca added.
The meeting between SBY and Prabowo was scheduled on last July 18. However, SBY must be treated at Gatot Subroto Army Hospital (RSPAD) due to exhausted after travelling to Pacitan and Yogyakarta. Prabowo then paid a visit to the hospital, but claimed no political discussion occured.
Previously, Gerindra Party general secretary Ahmad Muzani said the meeting will discuss the possibility to pair Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as Prabowo’s running mate. He hoped the meeting will be a productive one.
Meanwhile, this time, Hinca said there are many possibilities that will be discussed. It also included the alternative in 2019 presidential election.
He said the remaining time is now very short towards registration in early August. Therefore, the two figures will definitely talk about the form of coalition and the steps taken if the agreement is reached.
“I think Mr SBY and Prabowo have the same spirit, so we’ll wait tomorrow,” Hinca said.
