REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi and her Malaysian counterpart Saifuddin Abdullah held a bilateral meeting on Monday. They discussed access to education for children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.

During the meeting held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Marsudi has applauded Malaysia's policy that supports better access to education for Indonesian migrant workers' children in the country.

"There is a change in perspective in Malaysia today on educational access for children of Indonesian workers that we laud. The government of Malaysia currently views the problem of educational access (for Indonesian workers' children) as a priority," the minister emphasized.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Foreign Affairs Minister Abdullah confirmed that his government will facilitate the establishment of more schools for Indonesian workers' children.

"Currently, there are Indonesian Schools in Johor and Kuala Lumpur. Indonesia has requested to build (an Indonesian School) in Sabah, and we will help out for this," he added.

The two ministers have also discussed finalization of the agreement on placement and protection of Indonesian migrant workers.

"I have conveyed that finalization of the memorandum of understanding on the placement and protection of Indonesian workers is crucial," Marsudi added.
