REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian legal authorities have not yet leveled a formal indictment against three Indonesians arrested on suspicion of being terrorists. "They are still suspects, and there is no formal indictment leveled against them yet," Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy's Consular Service, Soeharyo Tri Sasongko, stated in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

The Indonesian Protection Task Force of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has met three suspected terrorists now being detained in that country, namely EMD (26), UR (42), and ZKR (27).

"I have met them. The Embassy has met the three Indonesian suspects and they are in good health," Sasongko remarked.

The Malaysian Police (PDRM) has detained seven people, three of whom were believed to be Indonesian citizens. They were arrested for conducting hard-line militant activities.

Seven people were arrested in four states, namely Trengganu, Selangor, Perak, and Johor, between July 12 and 17, 2018. The seven are currently being detained at Bukit Aman Prison Hall of the Malaysian Police Headquarters.

"At present, they are detained for 28 days since their arrest on July 12, 2018," he noted.

Soeharyo added that the Indonesian Embassy has been monitoring the legal process, because there has been no formal indictment raised against them.

"All three hold proper Indonesian passports. They were arrested in separate places and there is no direct connection between the three," he revealed.

He explained that one of the three men was allegedly involved in the Indonesian Islamic State (NII), and another one was suspected to have links with other Indonesians who are related to the Ansharut Daulah Jamaah (JAD) in Indonesia.
