REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has reportedly invited secretary generals of his coalition parties to the Bogor Presidential Palace on Tuesday night. However, there has been no clue on the topic of discussion.
"Just for information, secretary generals of the political parties have been invited to meet Mr. President at the Bogor Palace tonight at 7 p.m. local time," Secretary General of the Indonesian Solidarity Party Raja Juli Antoni informed reporters on Tuesday.
Antoni admitted to receiving an invitation to the meeting, but it had no mention of the agenda of the meeting.
He believed the meeting is intended to strengthen the coalition parties' support for President Joko Widodo's reelection bid in the 2019 elections.
"The invitation makes no mention of the agenda of the meeting. However, I think the main agenda will be silaturahim (get-together) in addition to strengthening the coalition parties' support for Mr. Jokowi," he stated.
President Joko Widodo invites Perindo Party Chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo, PSI Chairwoman Grace Natalie and PKPI Chairman Diaz Hendropriyono, to Bogor Palace, West Java, on Saturday (July 28).
The meeting with secretary generals of coalition parties is likely to be a follow up on the previous meeting between Jokowi and chiefs of the coalition parties, he remarked.
"The meeting with secretary generals of the coalition parties will likely be more technical to follow up on the meeting with political party leaders earlier," he stated.
Earlier, Jokowi had invited leaders of coalition parties to the Bogor Palace in two sessions, with the first session involving general chairmen of six coalition parties now sitting in the parliament and the second session involving leaders of three new coalition parties participating in the 2019 general elections.
