REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SIMBALUN -- Three days after the 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Lombok Island of West Nusa Tenggara, several victims, from children to adults, in the evacuation camp in Sajang Village, Sembalun, East Lombok, began to exhibit symptoms of diseases. Lin, one of the evacuees at the Sajang village camp, stated that her child fell sick three days ago.

"His body temperature shot up, and he was vomiting," she noted at the evacuation camp's health centre, Tuesday.

At the moment, she remarked that Lin is relying on the medicines handed out by the health officers at the location for the treatment of her six-month-old baby.

Meanwhile, Herdi, another evacuee, remarked that several other people had also suffered from the same symptoms, including diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and itchiness over the body.

"Most children and adults in the camp suffered from diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and itchiness," she noted.

Rispaini, the mobile health officer in the area, admitted to having received several complaints from people, including of vomiting, diarrhea, cold, and critical ulcers, after the earthquake hit the area.

"Those are some of the most common complaints of the diseases we received from the evacuees," Rispaini noted.

Complaints of such diseases were evenly received from some locations, such as in camps. Rispaini suspected that the humid weather and dehydration could have caused such diseases.
