REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) executive Suhud Aliyuddin said his party really expected to have former Indonesian Military (TNI) commander Gatot Nurmayanto on Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno campaign team. However, currently Gatot has not made a decision yet.

“We really hope Mr. Gatot could strengthen our team,” said Suhud on Friday (August 24).

Even so, Suhud admitted that he did know how far the communication process between Prabowo - Sandiaga and Gatot. PKS and other coalition parties that support the pair leave the final decision to them.

PKS assessed Gatot and his experience is a strategic and important figure. It would be good for the coalition if Gatot joined the camp. However, so far coalition has never held a special meeting yet with Gatot to discuss about 2019 presidential election.

“I think it depends on Gatot himself. Sure it’s really important if the best people can join,” Suhud added.

Aside being rumored to join opposition camp, Gatot Nurmantyo's name was also said to be in the government camp. The former Indonesian Military (TNI) commander was said to lead the winning team of incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) - KH Ma'ruf Amin or the Koalisi Indonesia Kerja (KIK, Indonesian Working Coalition).

According to Chairman of United Development Party (PPP) Romahurmuziy, KIK has not determine its chairperson. Gatot's name as well as other national figures' name were still being discussed by the coalition members.

"Of course, we consider all national figures, including Mr. Gatot," Romahurmuziy said at Corruption Eradication Commission office, Jakarta, on Thursday (August 23).
