REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla believed #2019GantiPresiden movement was a campaign activity held outside schedule. In fact, he advised the movement should frankly invite people to choose one of presidential candidates in 2019 election.

“It’s certainly part of political campaign, but not in the right time. I think just say choose this figure. Why should they call for change the president,” said JK at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday (August 28).

JK who is also Golkar Party senior politician urged #2019GantiPresiden supporters to campaign politely. He said there are two pairs of candidates in 2019 presidential elections, but currently it is not time to start campaign.

Earlier, National Movement to Guard Ulemas' Fatwa (GNPF Ulama) chairman Yusuf Martak said #2019GantiPresiden movement is in accordance with constitution. According to him, the declaration of the movement was legal and it was not much different from #2019LanjutDuaPeriode movement as campaigned by the incumbent's supporters.

KPU commissioner, Wahyu Setiawan also said declaration of  #2019GantiPresident movement and #Jokowi2Periode movement was not a part of campaign. He assessed that those movements were the form of community aspiration.

Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) commissioner Fritz Edward Siregar the movement of #2019GantiPresiden was not a form of campaign. Therefore, it did not violate any campaign regulation.

"Bawaslu states that until now the #2019GantiPresiden movement does not violate Law Number 7 Year 2017 (on Election)," said Fritz at Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Tuesday.
