REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained 22 Malang City Legislative Council (DPRD) members after naming them as suspects in bribery case of the approval of the Malang City Regulation on the amendment of 2015 regional budget (APBD). The suspects detained in four detention centers
“The suspects will be detained for the first 20 days in several detention centers,” said KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah on Tuesday (Sept 4).
Arief Hermanto from Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Teguh Mulyono (PDI-P), Mulyanto (National Awakening Party (PKB), Choeroel Anwar (Golkar Party), and Suparno (Gerindra Party) were detained in the Metro Jaya Regional Police Detention Center. Meanwhile, Imam Ghozali (Hanura Party), Moh Fadli (Nasdem Party), Asia Iriani (PPP), Indra Tjahyono (Democratic Party), Een Ambarsari (Gerindra Party), and Ribut Haryanto (Golkar Party) were detained in Pompam Jaya Guntur detention centre.
Then, Bambang Triyoso (PKS), Soni Yudiarto (Democrat), Harun Prasojo (PAN), Teguh Puji Wahyono (Gerindra), and Choirul Amri (PKS) were detained in the South Jakarta Police Detention Center. In addition, Afdhal Fauza (Hanura) was detained at the Central Jakarta Police Precinct, while Diana Yanti (PDI-P), Sugiarto (PKS), Syamsul Fajrih (PPP), Hadi Susanto (PDI-P), Erni Farida (PDI-P) were detained in the KPK Detention Center K4 Building.
The Malang lawmakers were allegedly received gifts or promises and gratification from the inactive Malang Mayor, Moch Anton. "After carrying out the process of collecting information, data, and observing the facts of the trial in the case, KPK found sufficient preliminary evidence to conduct investigations with 22 Malang Regional Legislative Council members as suspects,” said KPK deputy chairperson Basaria Pandjaitan.
Basaria said based on the facts of the trial, the 22 Malang lawmakers were suspected of received Rp 12,5 million to Rp50 million from Anton as Malang Mayor in 2013-2018 term. The money was given regarding the implementation of the functions and authorities as the members of the Malang Regional Legislative Council members.
The 22 Malang Regional Legislative Council members are charged under Article 12 letter a or Article 11 of Law No 31/1999 as amended in Lan No. 20/2001 on Eradication Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 Criminal Code. In addition, they are also charged under Article 12 B of Law Number 31/1999 as amended in Lan No. 20/2001 on Eradication Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 Criminal Code.
