REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- As contender of the incumbent president Joko Widodo, Prabowo Subianto explained his camp was not slow, but being tactful in establishing its campaign team. Prabowo was left behind in declaring his team since Jokowi has appointed media and sports tycoon Erick Thohir as chief of national campaign team on Friday (Sept 7) afternoon.

"No problem, we have our own calculation for the interests of the people," he said.

According to Prabowo, chairman of his national campaign team was already widely cited by medias. He would not asked people from outside supporting parties to lead the team.

"We will not 'import' any player, the figure will be from among us," he stated at his residence at Kertanegara Street, South Jakarta, on Friday (Sept 7).

Prabowo asserted that his camp focused on economic issues. Some economics experts and businessperson joined his camp.

"So we want to be prudent, calm, and not rushing it," Prabowo said.

Leaders of supporting parties of the opposition camp gathered at Prabowo's house on Friday to finalize composition of its national campaign team. They discussed strategy to win the 2019 presidential election and the figure of spokesperson and campaigner.

"All parties have sent their delegations," deputy secretary general of National Mandate Party, Saleh Partaonan Daulay said.

Democratic Party general chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono did not came to the meeting. However, Gerindra Party asserted it did not mean Democratic Party would not be all out in winning him.

"They have a meeting at the same time," secretary general of Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani said about SBY's absence.
