REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said that President Joko Widodo's directives calling on the Indonesian Armed Force (TNI) and Police to publicize the government's performance to the public had no political element. He believed that there was nothing wrong with Jokowi's direction.

According to him, if the president's assistants did not convey the government's work and the results of the work honestly then it would be wrong. "The TNI must know what the president is doing, people must know it, and so do I. I am his assistant in the defense sector. There is no political element," Ryacudu told reporters in Jakarta on Monday.

Ryacudu said he was present when Jokowi gave the directives. He emphasized that TNI soldiers must know what the government has been doing so far.

"In my opinion, the commander spoke to his soldiers about the success of the government, which is true, all the people must know that the government is sleeping or not," he said.

The former army chief of staff noted that Jokowi was a person who worked diligently without considering the time, be it Saturday or Sunday. According to him, the public must also know about the work of Jokowi and his assistants. The success of Jokowi Government must be made known to all people.

"One must know that the directive is not a political problem," he remarked.

Jokowi previously asked the TNI-Polri to explain the achievements of the government to the community. "In connection with the government program, we have done a lot on the work of the government. I leave all officers also socializing, also conveyed at the right moments to deliver it," said Jokowi at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (Aug 23).
