REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno was scheduled to meet with Chairman of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). They would meet at SBY's residence in Kuningan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (Sept 12) night.
According to Sandiaga, one of the issues to be discussed was about economic condition. He wanted to ask advises from SBY who has succeeded in facing economic turbulence in 2008 to 2009.
Sandiaga said during SBY's term as Indonesian sixth president, global financial crisis hit the world. Indonesia had to close its stock exchange for several days, but then managed to handle the crisis.
"As a nation, we should think a more strategic issues rather than current issues," he said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Prabowo and Sandiaga would also discuss the Democrat Party's solid support for them in the 2019 presidential race. Secretary General of the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Ahmad Muzani said that here on Tuesday night.
"Prabowo will meet SBY in Kuningan to discuss how to get the Prabowo-Sandiaga pair elected," he said.
Prabowo has been briefed on Democrat Party cadres supporting the incumbent president Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-KH Ma'ruf Amin pair in the 2019 presidential election, he said adding the support is something normal in each democratic event.
