REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) secretary general Hasto Kristiyanto said senior economist Kwik Kian Gie is still part of his party. He asserted that Kwik will not cross to the opposition camp.

According to him, PDIP still communicates intensely with the former coordinating economic minister and minister of National Development Planning / chief of National Development Planning Board (Bappenas). Hasto said that the meeting between Kwik and presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto was meant to discuss economic issues.

Hasto explained that Kwik was only asked to give advice related to economic politics to Prabowo and his running mate Sandiaga Uno camp. Therefore, he asked that the meeting not to be exaggerated.

“Mr Kwik is still a member of PDIP, so please don’t close the public state space just because someone meets a candidate pair," Hasto said on Tuesday (Sept 18).

According to Hasto, Kwik’s economic political outlook is certainly different from the economic political opinions held by other experts. Hasto said Kwik also shared different political economic views than Sandiaga.

However, Hasto did not explain the difference of the economic political views. He only said that PDIP did not mind if Kwik and Sandiaga discussed the differences.

"It's ok to talk about ideas, so we don't need to be noisy,” Hasto added.
