REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno promised to provide affordable medical expenses for all levels of society if they win the 2019 Presidential Election. According to him, there are things that need to be improved, especially related to the management and financing of the Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) so that services to the community can be better.
"We will explicitly present affordable health costs to the community," Sandiaga stated, after visiting the Central Java Muhammadiyah Regional Board in Semarang, the capital city of Central Java Province, on Monday.
Sandiaga assessed the management of BPJS Kesehatan must be improved in the future. In addition, the health costs should not burden the community and hospitals.
"God willing, we are committed to improving the agency; the system is good and so are the savings," he remarked in the presence of National Mandate Party Chairman Zulkifli Hasan.
Sandiaga highlighted BPJS Kesehatan's debts in a number of hospitals, especially those managed by Muhammadiyah. The Head of Muhammadiyah-Central Java Chapter, Tafsir, noted that there were debts of around Rp300 billion in BPJS Kesehatan of 32 Muhammadiyah-owned hospitals in Central Java.
"(We will think) on how to avoid letting the 'cash flow' or make hospital expenses minimal," he explained.
During his friendly visit to Muhammadiyah PW Central Java, Uno emphasized that Muhammadiyah must be neutral in the 2019 Presidential Election.
Subianto-Uno pair was supported by five political parties, namely the Gerindra Party, the Prosperous Justice Party, the National Mandate Party, the Democratic Party, and the Berkarya Party.
