REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The national campaign team (TKN) of Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-KH Ma'ruf Amin pair has urged the authorities concerned to immediately shut down sites that spread slander against candidates. The statement came as a response to news about a site that has spread slander against vice presidential candidate of the opposition camp, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

"TKN Jokowi-Ma'ruf has urged the immediate shut down of sites that spread slander," TKN Information Task Force member Ridlwan Habib stated here on Tuesday.

Habib noted that sites spreading black campaign targeting Prabowo Subianto, Sandiaga, Jokowi, or Kiai Ma'ruf must be closed by the concerned authorities to ensure clean and peaceful election.

"The president in his directives has said that campaigns must reflect ideas and work programs. He strongly prohibits attacking others with slander or sensitive issues relating to 'SARA' (religious, ethnic, tribal or group differences)," he noted.

TKN Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin secretary Hasto Kristiyanto earlier remarked that his side had prohibited negative campaigning against other candidates. "We are prohibited to speak negatively about Prabowo-Sandi," he noted.

Kristiyanto said negative acts would only have a detrimental impact on the future of the nation, including spreading hoaxes, as they would only poison the nation's civilization and pollute Pancasila democratic minds.
