REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Supreme Court handed down a heavier sentence on convicted in e-ID card graft case, Andi Agustinus or also known as Andi Narogong. The verdict was decided on Sept 16, by panel of judges consisting of Mohamad Askin, Leopold Hutagalung, and Surya Jaya.
“Yes, panel of judges increased the prison term for Andi to 13 years,” said Supreme Court spokesman, Suhadi on Tuesday (Sept 25).
Previously, on March 28, Jakarta High Court has increased prison term for Andi to 11 years and fined him Rp 1 billion or six months confinement. He also was obliged to pay replacement money 2.15 million US dollar and Rp1.186 billion or three years confinement .
He was previously sentenced to eight years imprisontment by Jakarta Corruption Court or his first court on December 21, 2017.
Andi was declared guilty of conspiring with numerous parties in the deliberation of e-ID project in House of Representatives (DPR). He was accused of persuading graft convict and former House speaker who is also former Golkar Party chairman Setya Novanto, then a member of House Commission II overseeing home affairs, to help him gain lawmakers’ approval for Rp 5.9 trillion budget to procure e-ID card.
Jakarta High Court had also annulled Andi’s status as a justice collaborator although he had admitted his crime and contributed to the investigation by revealing the roles of other parties. He was declared as the main actor of e-ID card graft case.
