REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Campaign Team (TKN) of Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-KH Ma'ruf Amin hailed the decision of Yenny Wahid as the daughter of the fourth Indonesian president late Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) to support its presidential and vice presidential candidates. TKN spokesman Ace Hasan Syadzily said the support from the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) family for the Jokowi-Kiai Ma'ruf pair has now been complete.

"This has given us positive energy for the fight," he stated here on Wednesday.

Syadzily noted that all supporters of Jokowi-Kiai Ma'ruf will continue to carry forward the views, ideas, and thoughts of Gus Dur for a tolerant, diverse, and democratic Indonesia. He remarked that the influence of the extended family of Gus Dur is still huge among NU members, adding that NU members highly respect Gus Dur.

Yenny Wahid, along with the consortium of Gus Dur cadres, declared support to Jokowi-Kiai Ma'Amin as presidential and vice presidential candidates for the election scheduled in April next year. Jokowi-Kiai Ma'ruf will challenge former army general Prabowo Subianto and businessman Sandiaga Uno, as his running mate.

NU is the biggest Islamic organization in the country, while Kiai Ma'ruf was its former supreme leader.

During declaration, Yenny remarked that the people were longing for leaders who hear conscience of the people and have no distance with the people. People also wanted leaders with simple way of thinking that the basic needs and rights of the people in the country should be fulfilled in order to be prosperous.

"Bismillah, President Jokowi will again lead Indonesia," she said.
