REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Golkar Party politician Bambang Soesatyo "Bamsoet" said incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) - KH Ma’ruf Amin national campaign team (TKN)  must be aware of the rival vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno’s electability. He said Sandiaga surpassed Kiai Ma’ruf among millennial voters.

Bambang assessed TKN Indonesia Work Coalition (KIK) chairman Erick Thohir should handle it. He said Erick was chosen to attract millennial generation support for the pair number 01.

"The millennial generation that is being targeted by both camp is 50 million people," said Bambang on wednesday (Sept 26).

Based on Indonesian Political Indicators survey, Sandiaga was more popular than Kiai Ma’ruf. Sandiaga's level of fame in the public eye reached 73 percent, while Kiai Ma'ruf was slightly below with 70 percent.

Bambang said Sandiaga was superior to Kiai Ma'ruf among millennial voters because of Jokowi's vice presidential candidate too late to come up. According to him, Sandiaga had been known in national politics since he became Jakarta deputy governor.

Meanwhile, Gerindra Party Central Executive Board (DPP) Riza Patria said the presence of Sandiaga as Prabowo Subianto’s running mate has increased the electability of the candidate pair. He revealed, Sandiaga had an extraordinary electoral impact.

Riza explained Sandiaga had succeeded in raising Prabowo's voice from the millennial segment. He said the segment dominated 40 percent of the Permanent Voter List (DPT).

“It’s not easy to seize the millennial segment, but we are optimistic that Sandiaga is able to seize the segment,” Riza said.
