REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Jakarta Police investigator will continue legal proceeding against activist Ratna Sarumpaet althoug she has apologized for fake assault claim in Bandung, West Java. A number of people have filed police reports against her, including Muannas Alaidid.
“We will check everything related to the report,” said Jakarta Metro Police spokesperson Argo Yuwono on Thursday (Oct 4).
Argo said the basic of the case investigation included police reports from the public who complained of fake information by Ratna. Police will focus on examination of the parties involved in conveying false information about her.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Police General Criminal Investigation Commissioner Nico Afinta said Ratna would immediately be questioned for further information.
Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno also were reported to the police for spreading hoax. Muannas also mentioned politicians Fadli Zon, Rachel Maryam, Hanum Rais, Naniek S Dayang and General Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Youth Center Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.
Muannas who is Indonesia Cyber general chairman said they allegedly violated Article 14 and Article 15 Law No. 1/1946 on spread of hoaxes. In addition, they were allegedly violated Article 28 paragraph 2 Law No. 11/2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).
Ratna who is part of Prabowo’s campaign team claimed to have been assaulted in Bandung, resulting in injuries to her face. There were pictures that showed Ratna with her swollen eyes circulating on social media on Tuesday (Oct 2)
According to chairwoman of the Prabowo-Sandiaga Uno campaign team, Nanik S Deyang, the incident had taken place on Sept 21, near Husein Sastranegara International Airport. However, police found out that Ratna had not been in Bandung that day, but at a hospital in Jakarta specializing in cosmetic surgery.
Ratna then admitted that she was lying about her assault case. She said pictures of her swollen eyes that went viral were the result of liposuction and apologized to Prabowo and public for her deception.
