REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah opened Makassar International Eight Festival and Forum 2018 at Losari Beach Pavilion on Oct 10. In his speech, he expressed his deep appreciation for the implementation of the event known as F8 with the theme of Palu Risen Together.

“Alhamdulillah (thank God) we can attend the event, we hope F8 can continue to increase from year to year. Our appreciation especially for the Makassar Mayor is so enthusiastic about preparing this, and still thinking about Palu's grief atmosphere by inviting us to rise together,” said Nurdin.

Even though it was in a grieving atmosphere, said Nurdin, but this event invited not to dissolve in the atmosphere of grief. Nurdin said what was done by the event makes us more enthusiastic.

“I am very proud, our children who are victims of disasters, who have lost their mothers, lost their fathers have started school, they are fresh, playing. I think this is our goal, how to entertain our brothers and sisters,” Nurdin explained.

In addition, Nurdin also hopes and invites all elements of society to keep this proud event going. So, it will be an interesting spectacle and brave to raise local art to be known in the international community.

Meanwhile, Deputy of the Tourism Tourism Market Development Ministry of Tourism, Esthy Eko Astuti also considers F8 to be extraordinary. Especially in the midst of them, there are refugees from Palu.

“Makassar Mayor response in order to awake Palu is very extraordinary. Not only entertain, but also invite us to rise together,” Esthy said.

A number of foreign officials also attended F8 event. Among them were  Deputy Ambassador of Belgium, Consul General of the United States (US), Consul General of Australia, Consul General of Germany, Consul General of Switzerland, Consul General of Japan, Consul General of South Korea, Consul General of the Philippines, Head of Politics and Economics of the American Embassy.
