REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG -- Chinese dominated foreign tourists visiting Labuan Bajo among the delegates to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank (WB) annual meetings which ended in Nusa Dua, Bali, last Sunday. Labuan Bajo is in Manggarai Barat, in the western end of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province.

The coastal city is the main access to the Komodo National Park, the habitat of ancient giant lizard, Komodo, found only in the Indonesian Komodo islands. There were 180 of the delegates planning to visit the Komodo National Park so far after the end of the IMF-WB meeting, head of the provincial Tourism Office Marius Ardu Jelamu said here on Wednesday.

Marius said the visit of the delegates would greatly help promote Labuan Bajo and the Komodo National Park as a tourist destination. He said the Komodo National Park is one of the top 10 tourist destinations in the world.

Komodo is one of the world's seven wonders of nature. In the first 10 months of this year there were around 126,000 tourists visiting the national park and 80 percent of them were foreign tourists.
