REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PUTUSSIBAU -- The agriculture quarantine personnel in West Kalimantan's village of Entikong, destroyed 16.2 thousand chicken eggs which illegally entered the Indonesian region recently from Malaysia. Prevention of the entry of poultry products and the derivatives originating from other countries has been implemented since August 2018.
"Thousands of eggs enter Indonesian territory illegally through unofficial routes in the Badau Sub-District," the veterinary medical officer of Entikong Quarantine, Riko Rukardi, stated in Badau, Kapuas Hulu, on Wednesday.
According to Rukardi, destroying the eggs from Malaysia was an effort to prevent the entry of poultry products and transmission of bird flu to Indonesia. Malaysia's territory has not yet declared free of bird flu.
"Our effort is to prevent flu and the like from entering Indonesia," he explained.
